Eliminating Mold

Like other organisms, mold requires food and water to grow. There are two basic objectives in mold remediation: eliminate the moisture source and eliminate the food source. Since it is virtually impossible to entirely eliminate the presence of mold spores, mold remediation instead focuses on stopping the growth and spread of mold. This is accomplished by first eliminating all moisture sources. Once moisture is gone, the mold can no longer spread to new locations. Remediation then focuses on eliminating food sources (such as wood, concrete, etc.), which must be thoroughly cleaned to ensure that no mold survives.

Professional mold remediation requires more than just eliminating existing mold. Mold remediation includes preventing the spread of mold and eliminating potential mold problems in the future. Mold remediation also involves containment of existing mold (so that it does not spread), controlling the air movement, protecting the occupants from mold, protecting the technicians from the mold, proper disposal of waste materials and in-depth cleaning of the affected areas.

Mold can always return. After mold remediation, it becomes the owner/occupant's responsibility to take steps so that conditions for mold growth do not reappear. A&J takes the time to educate customers about how to prevent future mold growth and how to treat it should it ever appear again. Taking care of a mold problem early can save you thousands in remediation costs and can save you plenty of headaches in the long-haul.
